「Helicopter Carrier Mistral」
The Mistral (L9013) is an amphibious assault ship a type of helicopter carrier of the French Navy, the fourth vessel to bear the name, and lead ship of her class.
The Mistral started her trials in January 2005, and was officially commissioned in February 2006. She departed from Toulon for her first long-range journey in March, sailing through the Mediterranean, Suez, and the Red Sea to Djibouti and India, before returning to France.
In July, to ensure the safety of European citizens in the context of the 2006 Israel-Lebanon conflict, France set up Opération Baliste. The Mistral is the flagship of the system off Lebanon, escorted by the frigates Jean Bart and Jean de Vienne, and along with the Siroco.
On 16 May 2008, the Burmese UN ambassador accused France of deploying the Mistral to the Burmese coast for military purposes, which the French UN ambassador denied, stating that she was instead carrying 1,500 tons of relief supplies.
In February 2010 it was announced that France had agreed to sell Russia a Mistral with a potential option for three more vessels.
Die Mistral-Klasse ist eine Klasse konventionell betriebener Hubschrauberträger der Französischen Marine. Für 2009 wird der Auftrag für das dritte Schiff erwartet. Das dann folgende vierte Schiff soll als Ersatz für den Flugdeckkreuzer Jeanne dArc dienen.
Les bâtiments de projection et de commandement (BPC) de la classe Mistral sont des porte-hélicoptères dassaut amphibie de la Marine nationale française. Leur appellation OTAN est Landing Helicopter Dock (LHD).
Ils sont les premiers de ce type à être construits en France pour la Marine nationale. Leurs taille et caractéristiques leur permettent d'être intégrés soit au groupe aéronaval français, soit à une NATO Response Force (force de réaction de l'OTAN) ou à des missions de maintien de la paix sous mandat de l'ONU ou dans le cadre de l'Union européenne.
Deux de ces navires, dont l'étude a débuté en 1997, ont été construits : le Mistral (L9013), admis au service actif le 18 décembre 2006 et le Tonnerre (L9014) qui l'a été le 1er août 2007. Un troisième, le Dixmude, doit entrer en service en 20121.
